I want to get a feminine, colorful half sleeve tattoo but I'm having difficulty finding good examples, ideas?
I have been searching for nice tattoo designs for a while now, with little success. I've browsed through the tattoo design books in several shops, and I've searched the internet. The trouble is, I don't like that many styles. I'm looking for something colorful, with cherryblossoms, maybe waves or clouds as a background. At the same time I like sparrows and other tattoos in that style like hearts and cherrys as well. I don't know what style I would be happier with in twenty years. What I do know is that I love the look of heavy, big tattoos, something you don't see all too often here in the Netherlands. When I was in California I saw these really cool tattooed girls with full sleeves and chestpieces as well, I think their style is called rockabilly? Anyway, I really like that too.

Even with the "ramblings" I understood what you were talking about. As a tattooist, my advice to you is to seek help elsewhere. It is not a bad idea to look up and try to get ideas from the internet, however the best course of action is to sit down with an artist and discuss what you want. If you have any sense of artistic ability, you may even put your own thoughts to paper a bit.
The best artists will interpret your ideas and be able to come up with something that you will be happy with. I don't know the Netherlands, and a little about "California style" but what I can tell you is that every region seemingly has their own style of tattooing. You may want to pay a visit back to California, if you want it bad enough
