Do you know of any 100% natural, chemical-free hair darkener?
I use henna (mehndi) powder, and Biotique's Bio Henna Leaf is a favourite. I love the coolness and the comforting aroma of henna, but I only get an orange tint, not the dark tone I am looking for. Besides, henna tends to make my hair very dry. I would appreciate the benefit of your experience.
If you use henna, then you may also want to try Indigo powder. You do have to make sure you don't just get black dye with PPD in it which can make people have an allergic reaction.
If its labeled as "black henna" it may also have PPD in it.
HOWEVER, all brands are not created equal! Some that are labeled "black henna" is all natual indigo and nothing else.
Definilty pay attention to the ingredient list anytime you're buying anything for your hair.
Using henna, then using indigo over it can help achieve dark browns to near black, depending on the color of your hair before using henna.
And real indigo when applied over henna, does provide not only conditioning but leaves hair nice and glossy too.
Just be sure you're really wanting to go that dark. it can be a little unpredictable at first, but subsequent applications will be plenty black.
