Can I still donate blood if I use to cut (self harm)?
Ok I use to cut for personal reasons. I was wondering will I be unable to donate blood? The cut is pretty noticable on my arm but it completely healed so I can't lie about it. I used a scalpel sterilized several times over and as soon I made a cut I'd wipe the cut with alcohol. The point is this was months ago and the blood drive is tomorrow. Does it count as branding or tattoos? I mean I've donated blood before, I use to cut then too and I wasn't disqualified but the fact that this particular cut is visible really visible will that disqualify me?
It shouldn't but that will be at the discretion of the person drawing the blood. They are trying to protect the blood recipient from any diseases that could be transmitted in the blood so if they tell you that you can't donate do get discouraged or upset.
