how do i rig a pressure switch?
i am trying to make a burglar alarm for my room so my mom won't come into my room all the time. I am doing it with with some alligator clips on wires, a red light fixture, a buzzer, 2 batteries, and 2 pressure switches. i know how to do the light thing. i bought the kind of pressure swith that doesn't stay open on its own. i got it so the buzzer goes on when i'm not pushing it and when i am pushing it nothing happens what do i do?
You have two options for you push-button switch.
1. NO - normally open. When depressed it will close the contacts on the switch.
2. NC - normally closed. Contacts are closed in the neutral state.
If you want something more sensitive, you try try using micro-switches w/roller levers.
What you have are the NC switches. If you mount these on the hinge side of the door. When the door is close, you will not hear the buzzer. When the door is opened (pressure is released) slightly, the buzzer will go off.
